Jakarta, IO – A number of people had their heads shaved to commemorate the International Childhoooutside Gandaria City mall, Jakarta (3/3). The activity was initiated by the Yayasan Kasih Anak Kanker Indonesia (YKAKI). The #BeraniGundul movement aims to show empathy toward and support for children suffering from cancer who generally experience hair loss due to chemotherapy treatment.

It was participated in by parents, children and teenagers. YKAKI chair Ira Soelistiyo said the annual event has important mission to increase awareness and concern about childhood cancer among members of the public. According to Ira, the problem of childhood cancer still requires serious attention as currently there are only 90 pediatric cancer specialists in the whole of Indonesia and the majority of them only practice in big cities.
