Jakarta, IO – A number of children take part in tutoring in exchange for sorted trash at B3STT facility in the secretariat of neighborhood unit (RW) No 6, Kebon Melati subdistrict, Jakarta (12/12).

This simple building, which has a capacity for six children, has become a place for students to continue learning outside school hours offering subjects from mathematics, English to natural sciences. It has been running for six months.

Before participating in the tutoring, children first deposit the waste bottles they bring with them to the mentor to be recorded in a savings book. This way, children can learn how to process waste and at the same time learn about recycling.

At the end of the week, the collected trash will be deposited into the waster bank for recycling and the money will be used to buy utensils they need for the tutoring.
