Banten, IO – A number of workers sort plastic bottle waste to be shredded at Pemulung Berdaya cooperative, South Tangerang City, Banten.
This cooperative, which has been running for more than a decade, empowers scavengers and local residents to work as processors of plastic bottle and container waste which can produce products in the form of chopped and pressed plastic. Later, the recycled plastic products will be supplied to factories that make packaging bottles and polyster yarn on the island of Java, especially in West Java.
Every month, the cooperative is able to produce around 230 tons of recycled plastic bottle waste with a turnover of around Rp1.5 billion. Recycling industries like this also play a significant role in the circular economy.
