Jakarta, IO – A number of campaign props (APK) installed in a number of areas in Jakarta, (11/1). According to the schedule set by the General Elections Commission (KPU), the campaign period officially starts from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024.
Candidates use moment to promote themselves through an array of medium, from banners, billboards to flags. The displaying of campaign props is governed by Article 34 of KPU Regulation 15/2023, which bans campaign props to be set up on public transportation, facilities and infrastructure.

However, many improperly placed campaign props in Jakarta have created eyesore or ‘visual pollution’, creating disturbance and even potential hazard to the public, including accident. Therefore, stricter enforcement is needed to ensure that the campaign period can take place in a safe and orderly manner.
