“Artchipelago” exhibition: The beauty of the archipelago through the lens of artists

Jakarta, IO – Visitors gazed at paintings in the “Artchipelago” exhibition at the Basoeki Abdullah Museum, Jakarta, Friday (14/6). This exhibition presents works from the Kota Tua art community and seeks to show Indonesia as a nation and a vast archipelagic country with an important role in the global stage.

The exhibition serves as a forum for artists to express the beauty and diversity of Indonesia. A clever wordplay, fusing “art” with “archipelago” the artists collaborate to portray the soul of Indonesia, a nation comprising more than 17,000 islands, in aesthetic light.

The 20 artists who participated in this exhibition are Aryo Bimo, Agus Muchtadji, Asep TIB, Carsilah, Deden Hamdani, Dona Artha, Fatkur Rachman Hartono, Kang Waw, Marwan, M Riyanto, M Adien, Nurdin Yusup, Putra Gara, Suryadi, Susi Necklin, Nasrul, R Irni A, Taufik Syah, Tri Sabariman, and Yuli Riban. Each of them showcases works that reflect the uniqueness and richness of Indonesian culture through their own perspective.

The works exhibited also portrays the social and environmental issues faced by the nation. Through the medium of art, the artists strive to convey a profound message about the importance of preserving the harmonious coexistence among its people. In addition, the exhibition presents valuable opportunity for artists to share their stories and experiences in creating works of art. The event will run until June 30 and is open to the public.
