Jakarta, IO – Workers pry open green clam shells to get the meat in Kampung Kerang, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, Wednesday (19/7).
The urban village has existed for decades and become a place for fishermen and local residents to make a living by working as green mussel cultivators and processors. Most of the workers in this place are women. They usually work in groups and are paid Rp30,000 per drum.

They sorted the green mussels and then boil them in furnace for about 30 minutes before distributing them to workers to extract the meat and then auctioned.
