Jakarta, IO – A number of participants attended the Nusantara Music Art Workshop at the Pusat Pelatihan Budaya Building, Cengkareng, Jakarta, on May 15. The Jakarta Cultural Sub-District planned the event to encourage younger generations to preserve Indonesian musical arts.

The workshop is part of a cultural program that lasts for 10 days, starting from April 29 to May 15, 2024, and is being attended by 30 participants from a variety of student groups and young people. Not only do they have the opportunity to express their musical interests and talents, but they can also actively contribute to preserving Indonesia’s cultural heritage.

The participants have the opportunity to learn various materials, ranging from traditional Betawi music (Gambang Kromong), West Java (Bonang), West Sumatra (Talempong), Kalimantan (Sape), to Papua (percussion drums). They also learn an introduction to traditional musical instruments, music composition, arrangement, and harmonization.

The participants are expected to become skilled musicians and agents of change in preserving and developing the nation’s cultural riches.
