Jakarta, IO – Sumedi, 47, a cattle farmer, shows a biogas facility that converts cow manure into biogas in Cikoko, Jakarta. Previously, the cattle farm received complaint from the local residents due to the stench resulting from its operation. To overcome this, the Jakarta Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture (KPKP) department installed the waste processing equipment in the 450-sqm farm.

There are two biodigester tanks that can process cow dung into gas, capable of lighting 40 stoves and lanterns. The waste from the 37 cows can also be turned into fertilizer. Currently, the biogas system has been connected to the homes of seven residents around the farm. This number is expected to increase in the future.
