Jakarta, IO – Our capital city Jakarta is officially 496 years old this year. Celebrations of the anniversary of its 1527 establishment started on Thursday (22/06/2023). This year, the Jakarta Provicial Government’s theme is “Jadi Karya untuk Nusantara” (“Becoming Works for the Archipelago”), an extension of the city’s slogan “Sukses Jakarta untuk Indonesia” (“Jakarta Succeeds for Indonesia”).
To celebrate its anniversary, Jakarta holds multiple events across its territory, including the Kite Festival in Lagoon Beach, Ancol (22 June-9 July 2023). Many kite-lover communitites take part in the Festival, proudly flying the many shaped, colored, and sized kites in their collection throughout the event.

Another event held to celebrate the Jakarta 496th anniversary is the Pekan Raya Jakarta or Jakarta Fair 2023 at JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, from 14 June to 16 July 2023. The Fair features 2,500 tenants and 1,500 booths from the City’s public and private micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.
