Jakarta, IO – Finance Minister Sri Mulyani said the ability of young Indonesians to afford buying a home highly depends on supply and demand.
“The market can only be created if there is supply and demand, but if there are constraints, they will diverge, or meet at an equilibrium that does not reflect the needs for housing,” Sri Mulyani explained, as reported by INews, Thursday (7/7).
She revealed that currently there is a housing backlog of 12.75 million. This means that those who are lining up to buy a home are still relatively young. This young generation will later get married, need a house, but do not have enough money to afford it.
