Bogor, IO – A number of cattle traders are busy serving buyers looking for sacrificial animals at the Jonggol Cattle Market, Bogor regency, West Java, Thursday (13/6). Ahead of Eid al-Adha or the “Feast of Sacrifice”, the market has seen increase in sales by 60 to 80 percent compared to normal days.

Jonggol Cattle Market is the second largest of its kind in West Java, after the one in Purwakarta. It opens every Monday and Thursday, offering around 1,000 cows and 700 goats and sheep. Sales at this market began to increase since last month as the Muslim community prepares to celebrate Eid al-Adha.

At the market, goats and sheep weighing 30 kg cost around Rp2.5 million, while cows start from Rp20 million. The booming sales have had a positive impact on the breeders and traders, who have earned higher profits during one of the most important festivals in the Muslim calendar.
