Jakarta, IO – Hundreds of children received free circumcision service as part of the event series to celebrate Jakarta’s 497th anniversary. They rode 11 horse-drawn carriages and vehicles in a parade heading to the North Jakarta’s mayoral office, Fri (21/6).

The event was organized by the North Jakarta chapter of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in collaboration with the North Jakarta administration. The procession involved 497 orphans and underprivileged residents of North Jakarta. They were seen wearing the traditional dress of Betawi ethnic group and were seen brimming with excitement.

The circumcision itself is scheduled to be carried out on Saturday (22/6) at the North Jakarta’s mayoral office. This event is a manifestation of caring attitude and close synergy between PMI and North Jakarta administration to help those in need. In addition, it seeks to liven up the city’s anniversary celebration by featuring elements of local culture and the spirit of togetherness among the city’s residents.
