Jakarta, IO – Indonesian women’s doubles badminton players, Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silvia Ramadhanti, managed to advance to the next round after beating Thai pair, Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai, with the score 21-17, 16-21 and 21-14, in the 2024 Indonesia Open held at Istora Senayan, Jakarta (4/6).
Another match saw Indonesian women’s single player Gregoria Mariska Tunjung clashing with compatriot Putri Kusuma Wardani. Gregoria won with 21-14 and 21-17, making her the only Indonesian player in the event to make it to the next round.
Meanwhile, in the men’s single, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting was defeated by Japan’s top player Kenta Nishimoto with the score 21-17, 11-21 and 8-21. Even though Ginting put up fierce resistance in the first game, Nishimoto managed to turn things around and took the next two games.

The Indonesia Open 2024 is sponsored by Le Minerale as the Official Mineral Water for the fourth consecutive year. This tournament is also the last battle ground before the 2024 Paris Olympics. The prestigious Super Series Premier tournament saw the participation of 241 athletes from 22 countries, including 30 players from Indonesia.
