A few days before the 2024 Chinese New Year celebrations, the Glodok commercial center began to be filled with Indonesian-Chinese residents looking for Chinese New Year knick-knacks such as wall hangings, lanterns, angpao (red envelop), lion dance replica, flowers, clothes and special food and snacks.
Hanging decorations are one of most sought after items. According to one of the customers, Novi, hanging decorations are cheap and can make the appearance of the house full of Chinese New Year nuances. They vary in price, depending on the type and size, ranging from Rp10,000 to Rp1 million.
