Jakarta, IO – Muslims perform Eid al-Adha prayers at the iconic Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta, Monday (17/6).

Since early morning, the mosque corridors have been packed with devotees looking for convenient spots to worship. Even the steps of the mosque were swarming with people wishing to attend the main session.

Many arrived early to anticipate the difficulty of access to the mosque and unpredictable conditions, remembering the experience of previous years when the mosque experienced overcrowding.

Eid al-Adha, which falls on June 17 this year, commemorate the Prophet Ibrahim’s readiness to sacrifice his son as a sign of his obedience to God, during which they sacrifice permissible animals, generally goats, sheep, and cows.
