Jakarta, IO – Dozens of fashion models showed off clothes designed by local designers during the Batik Fashion Show on the 2nd Floor of Tosari Bus Stop, Jakarta, Monday (2/10) to celebrate the National Batik Day. The show was organized by the National Crafts Council (Dekranas) in collaboration with PT. TransJakarta.
Keen passersby and onlookers were seen enjoying the show. Several collections also attracted attention, especially the one featuring a large floral ornament. Other collections creatively blend soft and bold colors. Flowing long dresses also exude effortless elegance. With the Jakarta skyscrapers and the iconic Selamat Datang statue as the backdrop, the show feels even more special and unique.
Batik is one of Indonesia’s most valuable cultural heritages and has become the nation’s identity. The government designated October 2 as the National Batik Day in a bid to popularize and preserve batik especially among the young generation.
