Putri Ariani ends her AGT 2023 journey as second runner-up

Jakarta, IO – Putri Ariani, the blind singer from Indonesia, was awarded second runner-up in the America’s Got Talent (AGT) Season 18, Thursday (28/9). Putri stunned the juries and audience with the song “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me” by Elton John.

She received a standing ovation from the juries. Simon Cowell even called her a talented singer.

“No one can take away the fact that you are an extraordinary singer, an extraordinary performer and an extraordinary person,” he praised.

Putri has brought global fame to Indonesia since her joining the talent show. She managed to reach the AGT final despite having physical disabilities.

Putri started her journey through the talent search event Indonesia’s Got Talent 2014. At that time, she was only 9 years old. She managed to win and grabbed a money prize worth Rp500 million, per IDN Times, Friday (29/9).

She was also earned the Baiduri Award as an outstanding female singer at national level from the Riau Provincial Government. She was also chosen as one of the singers for the soundtrack “Song of Victory”, the opening song of the 2018 Asian Para Games, where she performed with other famous singers including Armand Maulana, Vidi Aldiano and Maudy Ayunda.

It didn’t stop there, Putri Ariani was also chosen to be one of the singers to perform at the 78th Indonesian Independence Day at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta where she played a piano while singing ‘Melati Suci’ by Guruh Soekarnoputra. (un)
