Jakarta, IO – Health workers examined patients with symptoms of acute respiratory infection (ISPA) at Mampang Prapatan Health Center, Jakarta, Thursday (24/8).
Based on data from the Jakarta Health Agency (Dinkes), there are 638,291 cases of ISPA in Jakarta due to air pollution as indicated by the unhealthy Air Quality Index (AQI) since May.
Several factors are causing poor air quality in Jakarta, among others, the increased mobility of people using private vehicles and the smog from coal-fired power plants around Jakarta as well as the prolonged dry season.

The government has taken several measures, including mandating civil servants to work from home, urge the public to put on face masks and reduce activities outdoor.
