“Collaboration between the Coordinating Ministry of Human Development and Cultural Affairs, the Ministry of Health, BPJS Kesehatan, hospitals, medical associations, patient communities, and society in general is key to improving the quality of the health services we can supply to CKD patients. We need stipulate a more ideal suite of regulations, including the stipulation of National Health Security regulations by the Ministry of Health in its Regulation No. 3 of 2023,” declared dr. Jonny, Sp.PD-KGH, M.Kes, MM, DCN, Presidential Doctor practicing in the RSPAD and Advisor to the Protect Indonesian Kidneys (Jaga GinjaI Indonesia – “JGI”) Foundation.

In practice, there are rules that need to be followed for better implementation of the NHS program. “For example, the rule that you must wait seven days before checking yourself at the same doctor, a maximum duration of three days for hospitalization, the difference in the types of medicine administered by different hospitals, etc. All these are confusing for patients. Therefore, the JGI Foundation suggests the elimination of staged referrals for patients who are undergoing therapy, transparency from health workers about the type of medicine being administered to the patients, the opening of single-use dialyzer seals before the patients and the confirmation that it is being administered accordingly, and strict adherence to the dosage stipulated by health workers, no matter in which hospital or other health facility it is being issued,” dr. Jonny said.
