Three die after trainer aircraft crashes in South Tangerang

Jakarta, IO – A Tecnam P2006T light aircraft with registration code PK-IFP belonging to the Indonesia Flying Club crashed at a field in BSD City, Serpong, South Tangerang, Sunday (19/5).

Three crew members consisting of pilot Pulu Darmawan, co-pilot Suanda, and technician Farid Ahmad died in this incident, per CNN Indonesia, Mon (20/5).

The plane is known to have flown from Pondok Cabe Airport at 11.36am WIB. Jakarta Police spokesperson Ade Ary Syam Indradi said the plane landed at Salakanegara airfield, Tanjung Lesung, Banten.

However, when flying back to Pondok Cabe Airport, the plane crashed. “It took off from Tanjung Lesung at around 1.10pm WIB,” said Ade.

South Tangerang Police chief Ibnu Bagus Santosa said that when the plane crashed amidst bad weather. “There was heavy rain at around 2pm WIB,” said Ibnu.

Wanto, a worker at the location, witnessed to the incident. He said he heard a thud followed by a loud bang. He looked up and saw a plane spinning out of control before it crashed to the run. He then ran to the location.

“I saw one victim lying on the ground, and the other two inside the plane. First they were still conscious but then they stopped moving,” said Wanto. (un)
