Prabowo to continue Indonesia’s commitment to world water management during his administration

Bali, IO – President and vice president-elect Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka will continue the Indonesian government’s commitment to world water management.

President Joko Widodo conveyed this when opening and introducing Prabowo before delegates in the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) 2024 in Nusa Dua Bali, Monday (20/5).

“On this auspicious occasion, allow me to introduce the president-elect of Indonesia, Mr Prabowo Subianto, who currently serves as defense minister. He will continue Indonesia’s commitment to contribute to world water management. Thank you Mr Prabowo,” said Jokowi to to applause from the guests and delegates.

In Asta Cita (8 missions), Prabowo-Gibran’s campaign promise, there is an emphasis on programs to improve the quality of nutrition, clean water and community sanitation to overcome stunting or malnutrition.

Meanwhile, for the provision of clean water, Prabowo-Gibran will increase the water absorption program and build water reservoirs, including a clean water pipeline program which will also be implemented to ensure availability of clean water across the regions.

For the reference, during his tenure as defense minister, Prabowo has intensively collaborated with Indonesian Defense University (Unhan) scientists to drill clean water points.

A total of 120 new water points have been provided to communities in Maluku, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), West Java, Central Java, Banten and Yogyakarta.

Not only that, the Prabowo-Gibran administration will also commit to implementing water self-sufficiency by continuing assistance in drilling water points in remote areas, revitalizing river watersheds, and installing more water pipelines network.
