Jakarta, IO – The Indonesian men’s national football team lost to Iraq 0-2 in the 2026 AFC World Cup Qualification Group F match at the Gelora Bung Karno stadium, Senayan, Jakarta (6/6). While dominating the game in the first half, Indonesian players had difficulty penetrating the Iraqi defense. In the 16th minute, Ibrahim Bayesh Al-Kaabawi’s goal was disallowed by the referee due to a violation.
The 0-0 score lasted until the end of the first half. At the start of the second half, Iraq made two substitutions. Ernando Ari made a save in the 48th minute, but Iraq got a penalty in the 52nd minute after Justin Hubner over a handball. Aymen Husssein successfully executed the penalty, making the score 1-0.
In the 59th minute, Indonesia lost Jordi Amat who received a red card. Shin Tae-yong responded with three substitutions. In the 72nd minute, Iraq received another penalty after Ernando Ari committed a foul against Ali Jasim, but this time Aymen Husssein failed to execute it.

In the 88th minute, Ernando Ari’s error gave Ali Jasim another chance, leading to second goal for Iraq. The 2-0 score lasted until the end of the match. Despite losing, Indonesia is still ranked in second place in Group F with seven points, while Iraq is firmly at the top with 15 points.
