IO – The Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia Zainudin Amali shared a round of golf with the Coach of the Indonesian National Soccer Team Coach Shin Tae-Yong at the Royal Halim, Jakarta, on Friday (04/02/2022).

“I have been planning to have a round with Coach Tae-Yong, but our respective schedule kept us too busy to do so,” he said. “The Coach is not just a great tactician on the soccer green – he is also excellent on the golfing green.”

Minister Zainuddin admitted that he and Coach Tae-Yong did more than just relax and play golf together. “During our game, we discussed the current condition and development of soccer in Indonesia, as well as its future prospects,” he said. Minister Zainuddin and Coach Yong had lunch together after their friendly 18-hole spar. “Afterwards, Coach Tae-Yong had to catch a fight to Bali to start training our National Team for a match in Cambodia next week,” he said.

Shin Tae-Yong will lead the Indonesian U-23 team in the AFF U-23 Tournament in Cambodia on 14-26 February. Indonesia is placed in Group B with Malaysia, Myanmar, and Laos. Group A will contain Cambodia as the host, Timor Leste, the Philippines, and Brunei Darussalam, while Group C will contain Thailand, Vietnam, and Singapore. The winner emerging from each group will meet again in the Semi Finals, with the best runner-up filling in the fourth spot. Good luck, Coach Shin Tae-Yong! Lead Indonesia’s young soccer athletes to victory! (rp)
