Jakarta, IO – UNICEF, UNDP, Prospera, and The SMERU Research Institute released the results of their second-round “Socio-Economic Impact of Covid-19 on Households in Indonesia” survey in 2022 on Thursday (15/12).

The survey found that Indonesia is going through an economic rebound which has led to decrease in poverty rate.

Despite the good news, the survey also found that economy growth is not evenly distributed, which increases food insecurity, making it even more difficult for households to survive, especially as the pandemic has yet to end.

The SMERU Research Institute research and outreach director Athia Yumna said one of the findings shows that women are carrying heavier burden in this situation. She said women workers were four times more likely to stop working than men to take care of the household.
