“There seems to be a misperception, especially from outside the country. For example, about extra marital sex. It seems it has been twisted out of context. I need to convey that extramarital sex is an offense warranting complaint,” said Yasonna, reported Detik.

Yasonna said foreign citizens need not worry about the new criminal code. He emphasized that this article can only be applied if there are complaints from the family member in accordance with Article 412(2) which reads: with regard to the crime referred to in paragraph 1, no prosecution is carried out except there is complaint from: (a) husband or wife for people bound by marriage (b) parents or children for people not bound by marriage.

“There must be a complaint filed. So, if an Australian man or woman go on vacation to Bali together, and they stay in the same hotel room or whatever, that’s their own business. Unless there is complaint from their parents in Australia,” he added. (bp)
