In 2014, PT Duta Palma Group legal manager Suheri Terta was also named a suspect. Both of them are suspected of bribing Forestry Ministry officials in a forest land conversion in the province of Riau.
This case began when Riau Governor Annas Maamun and the province’s Indonesian Palm Oil Farmers Association (Apkasindo) chairman Gulat Medali Emas Manurung were caught red-handed by the KPK on September 25, 2014. Both of them have been found guilty pending a final and binding verdict.
Until the Annas Maamun trial was over, Surya Darmadi did not appear as ordered by KPK summons. He was later designated as a fugitive and put on the wanted list (DPO).
Surya Darmadi was also named a suspect by the AGO. He was suspected of colluding with Indragiri Hulu regent Thamsir Rachman in the granting of palm oil processing license to Surya’s company.
