Jakarta, IO – Indonesia, for the fifth year in a row, is again named as the most generous country in the world in the World Giving Index (WGI) 2022 by the UK-based Charity Aid Foundation (CAF) on Friday (21/10). Indonesia managed to get 68 percent of votes, down 3 percent from last year, reported Republika on Monday (24/10).

WGI is an annual report on generosity rate around the world compiled using a survey of more than 1.96 million respondents in 119 countries by Gallup since 2009. WGI 2022 report was based on a survey conducted on March 31, 2022. This report describes the state of philanthropy in various parts of the world during 2021.

Like in the previous year, Indonesia topped the global average in two of the three categories or indicators, namely donating money, donating to strangers and participating in voluntary activities.

“CAF study show that 84 percent of Indonesians donated money in 2021, much higher than the global average of 35 percent,” the report said.
