Taste connoisseur

One uniqueness about the House of Tea lies in the distinctive aroma and taste. This is because every processed product is produced by small farmers who meet the required standard.

While preparing tea for patrons, Gunawan explained that the raw materials used were local products that have been cultivated in Indonesia, one of them being tisane.

“However, for other variants there are still several types of tea that cannot be grown here, such as pu’er and some tisane strain which still have to be imported,” he said.

The production process is quite long. The best tea leaves are selected through a careful process so that the aroma and health benefits are preserved.  Not only that, it should also be prepared in certain manners to ensure that the benefits can be felt after it was consumed.

Tea education

The House Of Tea also offers other programs to educate the public about the world of tea. Anyone is welcome to join and learn about the rich history of tea in depth, including through smell.

There is ‘Napak Tilas,’ a trip to visit a tea plantation which forms the history of tea development in Indonesia. The House Of Tea is supported by small farmers in tea plantations in Purwakarta and Central Java.

Located at 3B Poncol St., South Gandaria, Cilandak, South Jakarta, it is open from 4 pm to 9 pm and closes every Thursday. (Aini Tartinia)
