Jakarta, IO – The stunting rates has been successfully reduced from 7.3 million (30.8 percent) in 2018 to 4.7 million (21.5 percent) last year, said Vice President Ma’ruf Amin at the opening of the 2024 National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) on stunting held by the Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team (TPPS) in Jakarta.
“This means that in five years, we managed to reduce the prevalence of stunting by 9.3 percent, or an average of 1.85 percent per year,” said Ma’ruf, as per Detikcom, Wed (4/9).
He elaborated that the decline was one and a half times faster than the previous period, namely in 2013-18. This achievement is the result of collective works by many parties from the central to regional levels.
“In addition, institutional leaders and regional heads have shown a high awareness of the importance of human development for the progress of the Indonesian nation and are fully committed to implementing government policies to reduce the prevalence of stunting down to the regional level,” he added.

Ma’ruf, who heads the Steering Committee for Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team, emphasized that the decrease in the prevalence of stunting has been accompanied by improvements in the nutritional status of children and pregnant women in the past five years.
Thus, efforts to prevent stunting must continue and become a priority program during the government transition. “With the commitment of the government and support from all national components to reduce stunting we can take steady steps toward realizing the Golden Indonesia Vision 2045,” he said.
