The monks and congregations will start the ceremony by praying at Mendut Temple and walking to Borobudur Temple while carrying eternal fire, holy water and Buddhism symbols that have been closely guarded at Mendut Temple and place all of them on the main altar which has been prepared on the western part of Borobudur temple.
It is followed by Pradaksina, a prayer ritual by moving clockwise. In this ritual, candles will be lit while the devotees sing Puja Ghat Visaka.
The last and what all devotees and visitors to Borobudur Temple look forward to is the release of lanterns, known as Puja, into the sky. The lanterns are released during the closing night of Vesak, symbolizing the removal of negative energy from human beings. (rr)
