Jakarta, IO – The advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has transformed various aspects of human life, for the better and the worse. On the negative side, the technology has been abused by certain bad actors to commit fraud.

The latest case involved an individual with the username Mourningassasin on a music forum Discord. He was reported to have sold several fake US singer Frank Ocean’s songs for around US$9,000, reported Vice, Monday (15/5).

He used the AI Voice Generator, a program that can create new audio. The technology studies a set of data to be able to generate new audio according to user requests. The more data it learns, the more character the audio can produce, including a voice that is very similar to Frank Ocean.

In fact, Frank Ocean hasn’t released new songs or album since 2016. So, when Mourningassasin offered to sell the fake song on a fan forum, they were many who wanted to buy it. However, several users later realized that the song was created using artificial intelligence.

The perpetrator was not prosecuted and Frank Ocean refused to give any comment. However, the case has damaged the forum’s credibility and eroded the trust of its members. (bp)
