Update: 2 evacuated from a chopper that crash-landed in a jungle in Jambi

Jakarta, IO – The National Police (Polri) managed to evacuate two people from a helicopter that made an emergency landing in Kerinci Forest, Jambi. They are the co-pilot and aide de camp of Jambi Police chief Rusdi Hartono, reported Detik, Tuesday (21/2).

The evacuation was carried out using the police’s Bell 429 helicopter. As was previously reported, a police helicopter carrying five passengers and three crew members including the provincial police chief. Rusdi himself and the others are yet to be evacuated. Rusdi is said to be severely injured but his condition has stabilized.

“I want to clarify one more time that the helicopter made an emergency landing. It didn’t crash. Let there be no confusion,” said Polri spokesperson Dedi Prasetyo on Tuesday (21/2). Dedi further explained that the incident was caused by bad weather which formed thick fog. This resulted in poor visibility. (rr)
