Jakarta, IO – Uce Lestari, a researcher and lecturer from the Pharmacy Program, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universitas Jambi, introduced a lotion made from crude palm oil (CPO) called Palme Lation.
According to her, the lotion is more effective in moisturizing the skin compared to lotions made from pure palm oil, based on a comparative study she conducted.
“The research is expected to increase the added value of CPO, which is mostly produced by palm oil factories around Jambi,” Uce said on Tuesday (15/11). Jambi is one of Indonesia’s palm oil production hubs.
According to the research involving 10 participants, the skin of research subjects became moist with a moisture content of more than 50 percent after using the CPO lotion with a concentration of 5 percent and a lotion made from pure palm oil with a concentration of 15 percent.

According to Uce, CPO lotion can be easily absorbed by the skin. The high content of palmitic acid in crude palm oil makes the skin moisturised, soft, smooth and bright. “Palme Lotion has a copyright and is currently applying for a patent,” explained Uce, adding that CPO contains high beta carotene and 32-59 percent saturated fatty acids in the form of palmitic acid and 5 to 11 percent linoleic acid which are good for the skin.
