IO, Jakarta – Three students of the Master Program in Occupational Safety and Health (K3), Faculty of Public Health, University of Indonesia (UI) succeeded in winning the national level K3 Quiz Competition held at Balai K3, Ministry of Manpower, Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (02/11/2020). Taking the prize for UI were Muhammad Lutfi, Made Adhyatma Prawira Natha Kusuma, and Nida Hanifah Nasir.
The competition is divided into two rounds, held on the same day, namely, a preliminary round and a final round. The format of the race is in the form of questions and answers, with a random system and scrambled questions. In the final round, the UI team had to compete with two other universities, namely, the Veterans National Development University, and the Ministry of Manpower Polytechnic. In this final round, UI won with a score of 600.
“What is most felt from this race is psychological pressure, especially in the preliminary round, when we were left behind. During a later session, we prioritized with speedy responses to questions,” said Lutfi, to UI Public Relations after the competition.
In addition to employing these strategies, preparation is important. “because many questions revolve around regulatory and theoretical material. We must thus master the material thoroughly,” he added.
This quiz is the first competition in the K3 field held by the Ministry of Manpower to celebrate 2020 Occupational Safety and Health month; it is participated in by 12 universities from all over Indonesia. The purpose of this activity is to increase the knowledge of technical capabilities in the field of K3 for students and the community, in the effort to realize a K3 culture in Indonesia.
Head of Jakarta K3 Center Agus Triyono said that this activity would later share knowledge, remind one another and unite all in the framework of a K3 culture. He also ensured that all participants who took part in the competition would receive certificates, which would come in very useful after students graduated from college. (*/est)
