IO, Malang – Students and alumni of the Faculty of Computer Science (Filkom) at Brawijaya University (UB) have crafted an application they call CQuran, a platform for learning the Qur’an and reciting it together live. Many excellent features in this application are said to support study of the Qur’an, enabling the faithful to recite the Qur’an together during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vriza Wahyu, one of the alumni involved in the CQuran project, explained how this application was the result of efforts by 11 people, consisting of six alumni and five Faculty of Computer Science UB students. It was in development since April 25, 2020 and was launched on Google play on May 26, 2020. The cQuran application can be downloaded by Android device users.

cQuran provides features to make room to read the Qur’an live features to join other people’s rooms to hear it read, features for reviewers to help others improve how to read the Qur’an, and audio streaming features that facilitate communication between users. There are 114 surahs without restrictions. All these features are packaged in an attractive and user-friendly design.

“Users who want to learn the Qur’an can read the surah that has been provided in the application, then make room to read the Qur’an live and discuss with others to find out whether he made a mistake or not in his reading. Users also can enter someone else’s room and help that person by giving advice related to the person’s reading of the Qur’an,” Vriza said to Public Relation of UB, Friday (5/29/2020).

Vriza and his colleagues hope that this application can provide benefits to the wider community. In the future cQuran application can become a major platform in Indonesia in terms of sharing Islamic knowledge with all people. (*/est)
