Meanwhile, the Singapore Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) explained that UAS arrived at the Tanah Merah Singapore Ferry Terminal on Monday (16/5) from Batam with six other people. Upon arrival, he was interviewed, following which he and his companions were refused entry to Singapore. He was asked to return to Batam on the same day.
Furthermore, MHA explained that UAS was rejected because his sermons were considered extreme.
“Somad is known to spread extremist and divisive teachings, which is unacceptable in Singapore’s multiracial and multireligious society,” the statement from MHA said. (at)
