IO – Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Wishnutama Kusubandio states that economic recovery in the tourism sector, seriously damaged by the COVID-19 pandemic, will be a major government program in 2021, also paying attention to the development of 3A aspects (attractions, accessibility, and amenities), particularly for 5 “Super Priority Destinations”.

In his statement in Jakarta, Friday (14/8/2020), Wishnutama Kusubandio said that in 2021 tourism development will be directed to encourage general economic recovery.

“The program in the future will focus on restoring tourism, especially developing 5 priority destinations, namely Lake Toba, Borobudur, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, and Likupang,” Wishnutama confirmed.

Furthermore, the policy starting next year will also emphasize efforts to develop 3A aspects: attractions, accessibility, and amenities.

He also emphasized the increase in 2P, namely the promotion and participation of private entrepreneurs. In that regard, a storynomics tourism approach will be carried out that prioritizes narrative, creative content, living culture, and cultural strengths, as well as the use of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) schemes in building entertainment centers, such as  theme parks, that will absorb many tourists.

According to him, tourism development is not just building infrastructure or holding events. There is also an important component, namely, increasing the interpretation of a tourism place or destination.

“Storynomics tourism, for example, is a tourism approach formula that prioritizes narrative, creative content, and cultural life, and uses culture as the strengths of the destination,” Wishnutama said.

Packing the beauty of Indonesian tourism in one story is important in the development plan of the tourism sector, especially in 5 super-priority tourism destinations (Lake Toba, Borobudur, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, and Likupang) in 2021.

Through these strategies, it is hoped that they can provide a broader picture of the interesting stories behind these super-priority tourist destinations.

President Joko Widodo in his introductory speech to financial notes delivered at the Parliament Building on August 14, 2020, said that tourism development in 2021 is to be directed at promoting economic recovery.

The policy is carried out by developing destinations that focus on 5 Super Priority Destinations, developing aspects of amenities, attractions and accessibility, the storynomics tourism approach, and the use of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) schemes in building entertainment centers, such as theme parks, that will absorb many tourists.
