Jakarta, IO – A number of preparations ahead of the 42nd ASEAN Summit are being made.  TNI Commander Adm. Yudo Margono said TNI will deploy personnel and equipment to secure the event scheduled to be held from May 9-11 in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

One of the equipment to be deployed are naval vessels as the event will take place in an island. “Because the location is on oceanfront, we will deploy warships and other defense equipment,” said Yudo at TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, Thursday (13/4).

Yudo said that he and the National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo will coordinate and inspect the location directly. “We will coordinate closely to ensure that the event can be carried out safely and smoothly,” said Yudo.

Yudo also ordered TNI to prepare an emergency response plan to anticipate various potential incidents that may occur during the summit. This mitigation measure is in line with TNI’s duty to provide security to visiting heads of state and other very very important persons (VVIPs).
