TNI-Polri Deploy 9,030 Personnel to Secure Pope Francis’ Visit and ISF 2024

Jakarta, IO – The Indonesian National Police (Polri) and Armed Forces (TNI) held a joint troops roll call at TNI headquarters on Monday (2/9) in preparation to secure Pope Francis’ visit and the International Sustainability Forum (ISF) 2024.

A total of 9,030 personnel consisting of 4,300 from TNI and 4,730 from Polri will be deployed to secure the two high-profile events that will run concurrently from Tuesday (3/9) to Friday (6/9).

Commander of the Joint Regional Defense Command (Kogabwilhan) I, Vice Admiral Agus Hariadi said TNI will also deploy defense equipment and a special force squad. He emphasized that the tight security is meant to provide reassurance to VIP and VVIP guests.

“In addition to the Pope, ISF will see the presence of many heads of state, so we must ensure that the security is airtight,” explained Agus.

ISF 2024 aims to encourage collaboration between stakeholders related to the process and actions in decarbonization expected to advance sustainable growth. It will focus on five pillars, namely the green economy, energy transition, nature conservation and biodiversity, sustainable lifestyles, and the marine economy. (un)
