IO – Jogjakarta city endures as an attraction for tourists in Indonesia, as can be seen from the traffic jams outside the city that enter Jogjakarta during the annual Eid holiday season. Given the limited carrying capacity of the roads to accommodate the invasion of vehicles entering the city of Yogyakarta, there is a Government strategy to enforce traffic management. Movements that are congested at certain points need to be avoided by motorists or car users. Congestion on the streets of the protocol in Jogjakarta is inevitable. Anticipating this, Yetti Martanti, Secretary of the Yogyakarta City Tourism Office, shared several tips for ways that motorists can avoid this problem in Jogjakarta:

# 1 Avoid traffic jams

The first thing is to recognize the typical locations of traffic jam in Jogja. Usually there is a build-up of volume of vehicles on the main roads of Jogjakarta such as Jalan Malioboro, Jalan Kaliurang, Jalan Gejayan, Jalan Godean, Jalan Solo, Jalan Laksda Adisutjipto, and Kridosono Stadium. In order not to spend a lot of time on the road, try to avoid traffic jamsas much as possible.

# 2 Morning Departure

If you plan a vacation to a tourist spot in Jogja, try to leave early to avoid congestion. 5:30 is an ideal time, as the road is still quiet and the air is still fresh. You better leave early rather than being trapped in a queue of vehicles snaking its way along various tourist attractions such as the coastal areas in Gunung Kidul and Bantul, Tebing Breksi, Malioboro, Kaliurang, and Instagramable places in Jogja. Departing early is fun; we can get a beautiful sunrise view when visiting tourist destinations such as the mangunan fruit orchards.

# 3 Use Public Transportation

Another step to avoid stress due to congestion is to use public vehicle services to go around the city of Yogyakarta. By using a private vehicle, you will be contributing to traffic congestion; you will likely also get tired from having to drive while waiting in a line of vehicles. With public transportation, you can rest and do other activities. You can even choose traffic-free transportation modes such as trains and airplanes. After you arrive at Jogjakarta, it would be nice to explore the city of Yogyakarta by bicycle or on foot.

# 4 Reunion with old friends in a hangout places

Unique things that will make your time more valuable, includes meeting old school friends in coffee shops or hangout places spread out around the city of Yogyakarta. Various hangouts, such as Kotabaru, Sagan, Timoho, Taman Siswa, Demangan, and Prawirotaman are alternative places to enjoy Jogjakarta in different ways without have to run intotraffic jams. (dsy)
