Jakarta, IO – Barely recovering from the soccer tragedy that killed 132 supporters, Indonesian football scene is shocked yet again by the national team (Timnas) coach Shin Tae-yong’s statement that he will also resign if the Football Association of Indonesia’s (PSSI) chair Mochamad “Iwan Bule” Iriawan is forced to step down.

Shin Tae-yong’s made the statement in response to growing petition urging Mochamad Iriawan and the PSSI management to step down because they were considered responsible for the deadly riot that broke out after the Arema FC-Persebaya match in Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang, East Java on October 1.

“(The PSSI chair is) someone who really loves Indonesian football with all his heart and gives his full support,” said Shin Tae-yong. “If he is considered responsible for everything that happened and forced to step down, then I must say that will also resign,” he threatened.

Shin Tae-yong said that as a team he felt responsible for the cooperation established with PSSI. “I think if there is mistake by a colleague who work together as a team, then I also own the same mistake,” said Shin Tae-yong.
