The most expensive coffee on this list is Black Ivory which is produced in Thailand involving almost 30 elephants to produce Arabica coffee beans. This process is a natural fermentation in the elephant’s digestive system.
Black ivory has a slightly bitter taste with a soft chocolate flavor and hidden cherries. However, not just anyone can have this type of coffee to create high quality and exclusivity. If interested, you can try this coffee at a price of US$2,500/kg or around Rp38 million/kg.
Next is Misha Coffee which is similar to Black Ivory. The cherries will be eaten by the coati and digested before being excreted. Coffee beans that enter the digestive tract will mix with previous fruit consumption, thus enhancing the taste of the coffee.
The collected feces are roasted at a temperature of almost 220 degrees Celsius. The price of Misha coffee is priced at US$1,500/kg or around Rp22 million/kg.
Ranked third is Kopi Luwak from Indonesia. These coffee beans are one of the most expensive and delicious types of coffee in the world. The manufacturing process is also unique. These coffee beans are fed to the civet, then harvested from its feces. The resulting taste is very distinctive with a hint of caramel, chocolate, and nuts.

The process of making this coffee has attracted many visitors to Indonesia every year. Civet coffee can be purchased for US$1,300/kg or Rp20 million/kg.
The last most expensive coffee comes from the Andes mountains. Named Ospina Coffee, the beans are picked directly when ripe and then go through the grinding process to maintain the quality of the beans which are dried directly under the sun to produce a sweet and balanced taste.
Ospina Coffee beans go through 20 routine control checks to maintain the standards that make this coffee one of the most expensive in the world. Due to its complicated process, Ospina is priced at US$1250/kg or almost Rp19 million/kg. (bp)
