The uniqueness of Puja Mandala, 5 houses of worship in one complex

The houses of worship are the Jagat Natha Hindu Temple, Bukit Doa Protestant Church (GKPB), Guna Buddhist Monastery, Mary Lady of All Nations Catholic Church and Great Mosque of Ibnu Batutah.

According to Kompas, Thursday (2/2), Puja Mandala was conceived by then Tourism, Post and Telecommunications Minister Joop Ave after hearing aspiration from Muslim residents – who are mostly Javanese migrants – living in Benoa and Nusa Dua that they wished to have their own mosque. Joop then conveyed it to the local government and community leaders and construction began in 1994 until 1997.

The first house of worship to be completed was the mosque, followed by the Catholic church and Protestant church. The Buddhist monastery was built later on in 2003 and the Hindu temple in 2004. (rr)
