TB Attacks Other Organs

Jakarta, IO – Tuberculosis or TB/TBC is an infectious disease that primarily attacks the lungs, primarily the parenchyma or tracheobronchial parts of the organ. “Miliary TB” is classified as TB in the lungs, because it causes lesions there. Here are the other organs that it attacks:

Extra-lung TB

Extra-lung tuberculosis takes place when the disease bacteriologically or clinically attacks an organ outside the lung’s parenchyma. The inhaled TB bacteria multiply and spread out to other organs through the bloodstream. All extra-lung TB patients must also be checked for possible TB infection in the lungs.

What organs can be affected by extra-lung TB?

Other than the hair and the nails, the organs that the Mycrobacterium tuberculosis may attack include the lung’s pleura, the lymph nodes, the abdomen, the skin, the bones, the bone marrow, the brain’s meninges, and the genito-urinary tract.
