Tanah Abang skybridge accommodates 446 Small Independent Vendors (PKM)

IO, Jakarta – The Tanah Abang skybridge has been in operation since December 7, 2018. The bridge is part of a restructuring plan for the Sentra Primer Tanah Abang area and will facilitate pedestrians walking from the station and bus stop to the Tanah Abang Wholesale Center. The Tanah Abang skybridge or multipurpose pedestrian bridge (JPM) connects Block F Market, Block G, Tanah Abang Train Station, and TransJakarta Bus Stop, and is hoped to help relieve traffic congestion in the area.

Other than expediting pedestrian traffic from the Tanah Abang Train Station and Transjakarta Bus Stop to the Tanah Abang Wholesale Center, the skybridge also accommodates Small Independent Vendors (PKM), providing 446 1.5 m x 2 m kiosks. Vendors are charged a Rp 550,000 monthly cleanliness and security fee by the Jakarta government, paid through Bank DKI. The skybridge also provides Smart Toilets.

Those wishing to use the skybridge can visit the Tanah Abang Explore Bus Stop near the Jati Baru flyover. The entrance to the skybridge is near the Tanah Abang Train Station.

Traffic under the skybridge on Jalan Jati Baru has now been opened in two directions, and the red and blue tent previously set up on Jalan Jati Baru is no longer present. The skybridge is in operation between 07:00 to 18:00 WIB but later on will open in line with the KRL commuter line schedule. (Yoga Agusta)
