IO – To support filmmakers in Indonesia to remain productive, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) invites people to watch quality Indonesian films at home.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Wishnutama Kusubandio in his statement on Monday (5/5/2020), said that the Ministry cooperates with streaming services to download films from Gojek, GoPlay and the Indonesian Film Agency (BPI) to support Indonesian cinema and provide appreciation to film workers by watching quality Indonesian films.

“Now is the right time to watch Indonesian films; besides we #dirumahaja (stay at home) certainly need entertainment. Many #filmindonesia are cool and have been appreciated overseas,” Wishnutama said.

Besides, he stressed the importance of contributing and supporting the #BeliBuatanIndonesia (buy Indonesian product) campaign which will certainly help the nation’s economy become stronger.

“From May 1 to June 30, 2020, we can access Indonesian films of choice from GoPlay, and our appreciation will be channeled by the Indonesian Film Agency to help film sector workers affected economically from the COVID-19 pandemic. Let’s support Indonesian Films, for Indonesia. Long live the Indonesian Film,” Wishnutama said.

Through the Indonesian Film Support program, it is possible to greatly assist film workers in the country, because for every sale of access to watch GoPlay, as much as 20 percent will be distributed through BPI.

The funds will then be a form of appreciation from people who have watched Indonesian films on GoPlay to Indonesian film workers.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, many film workers were forced to stop the creative process and production to break the chain of the spread of the virus. “But we can still appreciate their previous work as well as to help them stay productive during this corona emergency. Watching their films can also be an exciting entertainment while we are at home,” Wishnutama said.

People only need to install the GoPlay application on their smartphones to be able to access the Indonesian Film Support program
