TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa and Chief of the Naval Staff (KSAL) Admiral Yudo Margono are scheduled to attend SGS 2022 aboard KRI Makassar-590. In addition, they will conduct decoration ceremony for the marines at Todak Beach, Dabo Singkep, Riau Islands. This is the Marine Corps’ amphibious landing training ground.
Furthermore, Krisno said SGS 2022 consists of a series of exercises between TNI and the United States Armed Forces, not only for the Navy, but also for the Indonesian Army and the Indonesian Air Force, which constitute the marine task force exercise in Dabo Singkep, Riau Islands. In the current activity, a Technical Operation synchronization is carried out between the US Marine Corps’s Amphibious Reconnaissance Battalion and the Indonesian Marine Amphibious Reconnaissance (Taifib) unit.
He further explained the joint exercise will especially support the Navy in carrying out its duties as a military force as well as maritime security force and diplomacy. “The exercises we are developing with friendly countries will strengthen our defense diplomacy in the regions,” Krisno added.
