Jakarta, IO – Finance Minister Sri Mulyani vowed to take legal action in response to the incident.
“The Finance Ministry condemns the acts of violence that have been committed and supports the consistent handling of the law by competent authorities,” said Sri Mulyani on Wednesday (22/2).
The assault, captured on a video that has since gone viral, took place on Monday (20/2). The perpetrator, identified as MDS, was seen driving a Jeep Rubicon and assaulted the victim, identified as D, in a small alley. As a result, the victim had to be hospitalized.
Sri Mulyani also criticized the luxurious lifestyle by Finance Ministry officials.
“This has led to erosion of trust in the integrity of the Finance Ministry and created a negative reputation for those who have worked and continue to work honestly, cleanly and professionally,” she said.
She reiterated that she would continue to maintain the integrity of all levels of her ministry by implementing disciplinary action for those who commit corruption and integrity violations in order to maintain public trust.

“Public trust is essential and a foundation that must be maintained together and must not be compromised by anyone within the Finance Ministry,” she emphasized. (bp)
