Rising competition and geopolitical tensions that may spark wider conflict, she said, have led many countries to look for ways to increase the resilience of their respective economies.

“This means that protectionism is likely to increase. Bloc politics will get stronger. Trade and investment will no longer be based on the free flow of goods, capital and people, but geopolitics,” she explained.

She said Indonesia as member of the G20 must be vigilant and carefully navigate the rapidly changing geopolitical situation. (rr)
