“The meaning of Catholicism in general and Semana Santa in particular has never diminished in my heart, not in the slightest sense,” said the 32-year-old man.

Semana Santa is a pre-Easter series of ritual that has become a tradition for the Catholics at Larantuka for 500 years, since the time of the Portuguese colonialism. It starts from Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday to Easter Sunday.

In celebration of Good Friday, a large procession is carried out with the statue of Tuan Meninu (child Jesus), the statues of Tuan Ma and Tuan Ana (representation of Jesus).
